Well and truly into a week full of fabulous Melbourne Spring Fashion Week events, this past Wednesday night I headed along with a number of blogger and fashion forward babes to witness the Spring Carnival runway show. Beautiful millinery, sophisticated and elegant frocks, and countless dapper male ensembles…there was definitely an aura of Spring racing in the air!
Seeing as I am right in the midst of planning my Spring Carnival outfits, there was no better time for MSFW to showcase a number of go-to looks by designers Thurley, By Johnny, Arthur Galan, Dom Bagnato, Jayson Brunsdon, Martin Grant at Christine, White Suede and Nicola Finetti.
The night, a celebration full of ready to wear frocks and fabulous millinery, celebrated and welcomed Melbourne’s most lively and anticipated time on the social calendar. Models vibrantly worked the runway in confidence and sass as they paraded breathtaking garment after breathtaking garment to a crowd of VIP spectators. In line with the traditional Spring racing looks, the outfits were feminine, posh and sophisticated. That doesn’t mean non-experimental, it just means fitting in with the ladylike dress code. Modest necklines, A-line skirts, traditional silhouettes, all focusing on the true beauty of a lady at the races.
Thurley put on a show and a half with their feminine and romantic lace numbers leaving jaws hitting the floor. They showcased a number of looks including soft cream pieces and more out there red and electric blue looks. Appealing to all interests, this brand is a definite go-to designer this season.
Jayson Brundson reminded us why he is always a crowd favourite with large beautiful princess skirts, while White Suede absolutely killed it with their volumed skirts, pants suits, and dramatic monochrome ensembles. Of course, we cannot forget By Johnny who of course turned heads by keeping it simple and classy with his signature style and sometimes subtle pops of colour.
The glitz and glamour of the Spring racing season is well and truly back and here, and at W by White Wolfe I cannot wait for the races to begin! Whether it is your first time or you are a seasoned veteran, get your outfit planning started because before you know it we will be celebrating trackside with bubbly in hand!
